Winter War - March 9, 2019 (heralded by Master Brand and Magistra Sciath)
Following moot, Their Majesties briefly opened a field court. They accepted a boon from Duke Finvarr to place Richard Larmer on vigil to contemplate entry into the Order of the Pelican. They also accepted Sir Gan's boon, and placed Tristham Ovinra I Groffa to contemplate entry into the Order of the Chivalry.
Events of the Evening Court
The children of the Realm were set loose to determine the location of the toybox, which Lord Iohn Spooner and Lady Katrina Prebensdottir had take pains to care for before court.
Their Majesties involved all those members of the Order of Chivalry who were willing to swear fealty to come forward, and before they could depart, Sir Quilliam was kept in Court to receive the Award of the Maiden's Heart (scroll completed during the reign of Baldric and Breyla, by Queen Marioun Golightly)
The Order of the Pelican and Richard Larmer were invited to return to Their Majesties' Court. After the inspiring words of many speakers, receiving medallion and cloak, Richard was inducted into the Order of the Pelican (scroll completed by Magistra Nicolaa de Bracton of Leicester) and swore his oath of fealty to Their Majesties.
Their Majesties bid Freya Blackwood to enter into their Court, and bestowed upon her an Award of the Orion (scroll completed by Mistress Abhilin fra Skye)
THL Augusta Weyfare was then invited into Their Majesties Court, and they made her a Baroness of Their Court for her many years of support (scroll by Maestro Piero di Paxiti da Vincenza)
Kostos of Ben Dunfirth was called forward, and received an AoA (scroll by Lysele Wollemenger) from Their Majesties.
Jessica of Henderson, invited to announce the results of the fencing competitions, was retained in Court by Their Majesties so that They might recognize her efforts in supporting fencing in the Shire and grant her an Award of the Maiden's Heart (scroll by Baron Gerrard Carpentarius)
Cesare Ambrogino di Salvazzi, who has long been active in Their Majesties’ rapier lists, was invited into Their Majesties court to receive an Award of the Scarlet Banner (scroll completed by Magistra Nicolaa de Bracton of Leicester)
Their Majesties called for Their Order of Chivalry, and for Lord Tristham Ovinra I Groffa into Their Court. Many speakers gave their words in recognition of Tristham’s growth and development into the noble warrior he has become. After receiving his belt, spurs and sword, he received a fierce buffet from His Majesty and was named Knight of the Order of Chivalry, and swore his fealty to Their Majesties. (Award horn designed and carved by Master Corwyn Galbraith).
Before Their Majesties closed Their Court, they bid forward three newcomers to the SCA in attendance at Winter War. And with this business completed, there was a great cry of joy as Their Majesties closed Their Court at Winter War.

Step Spritely - February 9, 2019 (heralded by Master Martin Bildner)
Herein lies the events of the court of Their Majesties, Evander and Marioun, from their thrones in the Canton of Vest Yorvik.
Following the opening of court, Their Excellencies, Dafydd and Mahhild, Baron and Baroness of Septentria, announced that there was only one set of baronial candidates, His Excellency Baron Sven Ragnaldson and Her Excellency Mistress Kersteken Janzdochtere. However, it was also announced that the process of meetings with the candidates and a poll would continue as before.
Lady Violetta was then called forward and presented with a bear's heart for her service.
Baronial court was then interrupted by Their Majesties, while her Excellency was mid-hug, as they too wished to recognize Lady Violetta with an Award of the Orion for her sewing, embroidery and jewelry.
At this point, the children of the Kingdom (and visiting children from the Midrealm) were summoned and informed that they needed to seek out a man in purple with a red hat and reap the rewards of their efforts.
Eithne ingen ui Ragnaill was then called forward and presented with an Award of the Maiden's Heart for her work as a seneshal and a thrown weapons marshal.
Next, Mistress Emma Danskona was called forward. The Crown had noted her years of service and the Order of the Wain was summoned to confirm and welcome Mistress Emma to their order. However, at this point, His Majesty interrupted his own court (again Her Excellency was mid-hug) to summon a replacement herald as I, Martin Bildner, was summoned to join my wife and likewise be welcomed into the Order of the Wain.
As a final order of business, the newcomers were called into court. From the four corners of the room they came, including one from behind the throne where she had been volunteering, and the four were welcomed and presented with cups.
There being no further business, court was close

Fall Crown Tournament - Saturday, October 20, 2018 (heralded by Beornweald Herald Brand)
Being an account of Their Majesties Evander and Marioun's court, convened on the 20th day of October, Anno Societatis LIII
In the morning, court was called to be open, and a number of actions were performed.
The Estates of Ealdormere were invited forth to swear fealty.
The Processional of Combatants and Consort were received by Their Majesties, and great words were said by all.
It was made known that the Declaration of Virtues was present for nobles to add their mark or seal.
A vigil book was made available to be sent westward to the far Kingdom of Avacal for Arwyn of Leicester who had made her home there, and words from Ealdormereans were prepared to assist celebrating her coming invocation into the Order of the Pelican.
Her Majesty called to Her presence all children attending the Crown Tournament.
The Crown Tournament was held, and Duke Roak was inspired to be victorious over Lord Laurenz, and he crowned Mistress Hyrokkin Princess of Ealdormere.
Court was porogued until the afternoon, and then Their Majesties returned to the thrones and proclaimed further actions through their heralds and scribes.
The Queen, having crowned her champion as Prince, sought another worthy person of virtue to represent her, and called forth Lord James Edgarson to take up the ancient collar and Queen's axe.
A toybox was made available for children to find, and with a few subtle clues from the Crown, the children went forth and enriched themselves.
Their Excellencies Shahid and Catherine held a brief baronial court by leave of Their Majesties, the actions thereof are chronicled elsewhere.
Amelius Claudius Rattanicus was called forth to receive a King's Favour from their predecessors hand and seal, and as coincidence would have it, the Crown's herald remarkably bore a semblance to the past king Baldric.
The Unbelted Challenge was concluded and the victors were proclaimed to be Lady Gwendolyn and Baron Richard Larmer for the most opponents of the Chivalry who signed their books.
Otillie of Skraeling Althing was called forth and received an Award of Arms, and proclaimed as a Lady of the realm.
Will of Wyeton was called forth and received an Award of Arms, and proclaimed as a Lord of the realm.
Sir Varenko was invited forth, and made a gift of funds to the Crown, specifically to bolster the creation of cups for newcomers. It was noted that the Exchequer were most pleased.
Countess Breyla la Viennette was called forth and received the Award of the Scarlet Banner for her skill and enthusiasm in fencing.
Lillyanna was called forth and received the Award of the Wolf's Cub.
The White Wolf Fian came forth and conducted business under the gaze of the Crown, and then a boon was begged for Baroness Lucia d'Enzinas to join the Order of the Laurel. As the Order and the Crown were in agreement, it was proclaimed that Lucia would sit her vigil and give her answer to the Crown in the coming days.
Cups were bestowed on those newcomers to our halls, and made feel welcome.
As there was no further business at that time, the court was closed and the Crown recessed from the hall.
This is my account as I recall and wrote it, and I invite others to recount any further details that should be committed to the memory of men and women, and the histories of Ealdormere.
Cheerfully slaving for my feudal masters,
Brand Thorwaldsen, Barnewalde Herald
Spring Crown Tournament - Saturday, May 26, 2018 (heralded by Rouge Estoile Herald Nicolaa)
An account of the court of Baldric and Breyla, High King and Queen of Ealdormere, held at Crown Tourney in the Shire of Trinovantia Nova, the 26th day of May in the 53rd year of the Society.
Their Majesties called forward Viscount Mordain to take possession of the Toy Chest. The young Wolfpack was very enthusiastic this day and could barely restrain themselves, quickly swarming His Excellency despite a good lead. His Majesty thanked Gerard Carpentarius for the donation of toys and encouraged others to follow suit.
Senex Crepitus was called forward. His Excellency Footus (aka Foote the Potter) once again brought forward the wooden mechanical bird head, with Baron Cynred and Baron Petreus following with the banner. Foote gave a short history of the origins of Senex Crepidus in the reign of Aaron and Rustique, the creation of the Roving Roman parties, and the fundraising undertaken by the group. Baron Cynred brought forward the Sacred Sock once used to hold the money raised, and it was announced that the final $2300 had been donated and would be used to commission new Heirs’ coronets. The sock was then passed to Their Majesties, and thus ended the story of Senex Crepidus, aka the Old Farts, may their name live on in glory.
Neytari Grypas of the Erainn was called forward, and for her work in clothing research and care of others, she was awarded Arms. Scroll scribed by Baroness Matilda of Swynford.
Their Majesties called forward Lord Berenger le Veillier, and for his labours awarded him the Maiden’s Heart. Scroll by Her Highness Marioun.
The Shire of Trinovantia Nova then presented Their Majesties with a treasure chest with a piece of paper recording the donation of one thousand gold coins to the Kingdom.
Lord Wulfric of the Black Wood was then called forward and awarded the Scarlet Banner for his skills in armoured combat. Scroll by Maestra Jocelyn.
Their Majesties demanded the presence of Lord Cesare Ambrigino di Salvazzi. His Majesty mentioned that just that day, he had met with Lord Cesare to discuss tokens for the young people of the kingdom. He also mentioned that Lord Cesare was greatly skilled, particularly in metalwork, and then called forward the Order of the Crucible to welcome their newest member. Scroll by Maestro Piero.
Baroness Margaret of the Erainn was called into court, and for her many years of work feeding the kingdom and her research into period food, Their Majesties made her an Award of Orion. Scroll wrought by Lord Adnar.
Their Majesties then had read into Court an Award of Arms for Duncan Atcheson of Clan Gordon dating to the reign of Siegfried and Xristina, and gave it to THL Cesare for safekeeping.
Magistra Nicolaa, Lawspeaker, was called into Court. She explained the history of the moot and invited all to submit questions ahead of time and to attend to have their voices heard. The moot is to be held at Trillium War on Saturday at 10 am in the large market tent. She then confessed to Their Majesties that she had taken an oath to be impartial, but there was one matter for which she could not remain impartial, and asked whether Their Majesties could assist. She then begged a boon that her apprentice THL Sciath Ingen Chaennaig be elevated to the Order of the Laurel. The candidate was called forward and charged to stand her vigil and to determine when she would give her answer. Writ scribed by Magistra Nicolaa.
Cesare was called forward to present prizes to the rapier tourney winners. The winner for Most Loss of Limbs was Seth of Trinovantia Nova. The winner for most blows to the head, as well as for the overall winner, was Mistress Eyrny. All winners received cups and tip tape.
Their Majesties then asked Their Highnesses if they had any words, and they thanked everyone for making their day special and for a well-fought tourney.
All business thus concluded, Court was closed.
As witnessed by Magistra Nicolaa, Lawspeaker.

Evening Court Report for Spring Coronation – Saturday, April 28, 2018
This is the report from the court during feast of their Majesties Baldric and Breyla, done at Coronation in canton of Caldrithig in the barony of Skraeling Althing on April 28, 2018
Orion for Lady Gwyneth of the Grey Dawn
An account of the final Court of Their Majesties, Edward and Rylyn, and of the Coronation and first Court of Baldric and Breyla, High King and Queen of Ealdormere - April 28, 2018
Her Majesty Rylyn processed in with Her Highness Breyla and Baroness Catherine of Skraeling Althing and opened her Court, explaining that the menfolk were out hunting. She called forward Dawn Galbraith, Christiana Mundgomerie, and Tristan Galbraith and bestowed upon them her Favour in absentia, for support during their reign and particularly in distant lands.
She then called forward all who attended Gulf Wars, also known as the Gulf Wars Expeditionary Force, presented them with tokens and her thanks, and declared that they would be added to the Scroll of Honour.
Her Majesty also thanked all scribes who worked during her reign but in particular Lord Adnar, her “combat scribe”, who was likewise added to the Scroll of Honour.
At this point, His Majesty Edward and His Highness Baldric returned from their hunt, Edward carrying a large monster arm over his shoulder, the kin of the monster slain six months ago. As it was expected there might be more monsters to deal with, perhaps even dragons, His Majesty proclaimed it was time to pass the Crown onto the Heirs.
The Privy Council was called forward, and Baroness Isabel, the Kingdom Seneschal, asked Their Majesties whether this was their will. Having heard an affirmative answer, Sciath Trillium stated that Princess Breyla had inspired Prince Baldric in the Crown Lists, and Duke Trumbrand, Earl Marshal, attested that Baldric had been victorious. Their Majesties thanked the Privy Council and they departed.
Her Majesty accepted the return of the regalia from Baron Shahid, who served as her champion.
King Edward recognized three gentles—Lady Alienor, Baroness Sibylla, and Baron Penda—for their service with his Favour (and asked them to take the monster arm with them). Baron Penda returned the regalia he had worn as King’s champion.
Their Majesties then called forward their Heirs, Prince Baldric and Princess Breyla, and the populace stood to bear witness. Edward then crowned Baldric as King and presented him with the Sword of State. Rylyn presented His Majesty Baldric with her Crown so that he might crown Breyla as Queen. Ealdormere then acclaimed the new Royal Couple.
Thus ended the reign of Edward and Rylyn, and thus began the reign of Baldric and Breyla, High King and Queen of Ealdormere.
Their Majesties then thanked Duke Edward and Duchess Rylyn, and they retired from the dais.
Court was opened, and Their Majesties accepted fealties.
After the Masters of Defense swore their oath, Master Lars and Duchess Kaylah begged a boon that Duke Edward be sent to his vigil to contemplate elevation as a Master of Defense. Their Majesties and the Order had apparently been plotting behind Edward’s back, holding stealth meetings while Their (previous) Majesties were ice skating at Winter War.
Queen Breyla then took as her champion Dafydd ap Alun, who will serve with his rapier.
King Baldric took as his campion Baron Rattanicus, and called forward Baroness Isabel to present her with the champion’s consort’s pendant and to promise his protection. Before taking up the Sword of State, the scabbard was removed as we move into the season of War.
Their Majesties called forward Alexander Gladstone, who will chronicle their reign as their historian, created him as a Baron of their Court, and presented him with a very large scroll granting him land and hunting rights in the Royal Forests along the Bruce.
Their Majesties then thanked all for attending. King Baldric shared a story of how he had found the Society as a young man seeking a chain mail shirt, and told of the wonders of Baroness Fiona’s basement and the stories she told. He remarked that he had seen several friends from those early days amongst those in attendance, and expressed his gratitude.
Court was then prorogued until the evening.
As witnessed and recorded by Nicolaa Rouge Estoile.

Kingdom of Ealdormere Arts & Sciences - March 24, 2018
An account of the court of Their Majesties Edward and Rylyn, Rex et Regina Ealdormeris, at the Arts and Sciences Fair on the twenty-fourth day of March, AS 52, in the Barony of Ben Dunfirth.
Their Majesties opened their Court in the morning and called forward Lady Heather Shea the Questrix. For her work at the Society level for more than six years and in the North, she was created as a Baroness of their Court.
THL Maiwen was then called forward and sent to sit her vigil for the Order of the Laurel. Court was then suspended.
Their Majesties resumed their Court in the afternoon. The Baron and Baroness of Ben Dunfirth were given leave to conduct a few items of business. Once their Court was closed, the White Wolf Fian was welcomed forward. They accepted the completed challenge of Lady Inge of Sten Mark, a seven part motet in the style of Thomas Tallis. Two new challenges were presented. Lady Marsali will be dyeing embroidery threads with a variety of dyes and then embroidering a coif. Maistresse Alais will be compiling an account book of her gardens in a 16th century style.
The Crown called forward Mistress Aibhilin, acting Minister of Arts and Sciences for the presentation of prizes. The Crown’s Choice went to Greite van Groningen for her paintings in a variety of paint media; the prize being a carved chair. The Princess’ Choice went to Lord Thorsten for his variety of cast bells.
The choice of the Baron and Baronesss of Septentria, given to an entry featuring the colour white, went to THL Petra’s tablet woven livery collar. The Baron and Baroness of Ben Dunfirth recognized THL Augusta for her ducal scroll for Duke Siegfried. The Barony of Ramshaven, recognizing the best use of sheep in an entry, presented a prize to Lady Estienne de Nantes for her wool hat.
The Weavers’ Guild prize went to Aleksander Bergessøn for his tablet weaving. The Ealdormere Waits prize went to Lady Inge for her Tallis piece, “something we can’t sight read.”. The Librarians recognized THL Sciath for her outstanding documentation.
House Herissony recognized Lady Inge, this time for her extensive research for her entries. Familia Salvazzi gave their prize for the best late period entry to Greite. The White Wolf Fian “Crazy like us” prize went to Aleksander Bergesson. And the Daily Life of the Common Sorts prize went to Gwen Hamilton for her paper on Tudor householding.
Only the winner of the Pentathlon remained to be announced. This year, there were seven entrants: Laura Batista, Aleksander Bergessøn, Katerina Prebensdottir, Inge of Sten Mark, Sciath Ingen Chaennaig, Greite van Groningen, and Constance of Caldrithig. Mistress Aibhilin thanked all for their excellent work, making for a difficult choice. She then called forward Lady Emelote, last year’s winner, and announced that the victor was Sciath ingen Chaennaig. She was invested with the baldric and the cup of the A&S Champion and took her place in Their Majesties’ Court.
Mistress Aibhilin’s final duty was to announce that Countess Xristina had been selected as the next A&S Minister. Countess Xristina then was invested with her office and swore fealty.
Their Majesties called forward Aleksander Bergessøn. Noting that he had been extremely busy and enthusiastic within his first year in the Society, they gave him an Award of Arms. Scroll was worded by Lord Dietrich and wrought by THL Emer.
Gannicus the Hibernian, also known as Sir Gann, was then called into Court. For his work on armoring for many people, he was given the Award of Orion. Scroll text by Maister Colyne Stewart and limned by Magistra Nicolaa.
Their Majesties then called forward the Order of the Crucible and asked Baron Brand to read the next order of business, which was to call forward Baroness Lucia de Moranza, who had been heralding Their Majesties’ court. For her work with string (including a knitted bag commended at Gulf Wars) and her sunny personality and enthusiasm, she was made Companion of the Order of the Crucible. The tiny, lace-like scroll was wrought by Lord Adnar.
Their Majesties called forward all who were attending their first event or Royal court and presented them with the traditional cups of welcome.
The King and Queen then called THL Maiwen to present herself. When no one responded, the Order of the Laurel was called forward and asked whether perhaps the Crown had erred in their decision to elevate Maiwen, if she could not be found. Magistra Nicolaa assured the Crown that they had not erred, as Maiwen’s fame extended beyond Ealdormere’s borders. She suggested that perhaps Maiwen’s brother Walter might be able to find her. So TRM called forward Walter, who was a manly man with a fine moustache dressed in spiffy Landsknecht gear that Maiwen had made. Their Majesties then suggested that perhaps Walter might stand in for Maiwen, since the resemblance was striking, and that the job paid well. Peers were then called to vouch for Walter’s...uh...Maiwen’s virtues. Sir Gann read words from Duke Finnvarr and Countess Ragni. Mistress Nadrah spoke as a Pelican, Master Giovanni spoke as a Master of Defense, Duchess Dagmar as a Lady of the Rose, and Sir Gann again read words from far lands. Walter/Maiwen was then invested with the hereditary gold Laurel ring, medallion, veil and circlet...and halbeard (as befits a manly Landsknecht). She then swore fealty and the scroll was read. The scroll was inscribed in the lid of a sewing box wrought by a cast of many artisans, including Master Corwyn, Duchess Domhnaill, Lady Lassarfhina, Mistress Tarian, Mistress Marian and Duke Berus, with text by Maestro Piero.
KIng Edward and Queen Rylyn then conveyed their thanks to all for entering, as did Princess Breyla. Court was then concluded.
As recorded and witnessed by Nicolaa Rouge Estoile.

Orion for Lady Osc
Twelfth Night - January, 2018
Herein is a report of the business conducted at the court of Their Excellencies of Septentria, Dafydd and Mahhild, at their court at Twelfth Night.
First, Their Excellencies called forth the most recent recipients of their baronial cup, the Maer Cuppan Crowsawgar -- to wit, Mistress Emma Danskona and Master Martin Bildner. These last returned the baronial cup, and were each gifted a beautiful wooden cup, turned by Lord Einar and carved by THL Thorfinna.
Next did Their Excellencies summon representatives from each of their Cantons, to present the baronial taxes due that day. Five of the seven Cantons were represented, and four made returns: oral or written records of all the new things that the folk of their Cantons had tried that year, some with samples. The Cantons who participated were Eoforwic, Vest Yorvik, Ardchreag and Monadh. Their Excellencies expressed that they would look for the other Cantons' returns at a later date to be announced at Their Excellencies' pleasure.
Their Excellencies expressed, with further elaboration from HE Matilda of Swynford, that the taxes levied for the current year would take the form of replacing some of the baronial regalia, in anticipation of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the Barony of Septentria. Canton seneschals were invited to look at the list of suggested projects, and choose among them, though other offerings would also be accepted.
Their Excellencies bestowed their cup, the Maer Cuppan Crowsawgar, upon HE Magistra Nicolaa de Bracton, for her devoted and unflagging service to her Barony and Kingdom.
An announcement was made that a new baronial Chronicler is being sought, to succeed THL Thorfinna, who has held that office for a number of years, producing the Ursus, among other duties. Interested parties should apply to Their Excellencies or Thorfinna.
Finally, Their Excellencies thanked the event staff for a lovely day, and gave the co-stewards a bag of small gifts to distribute to the staff as appropriate.
There being no further business before them, this session of Their Excellencies' court was closed.
This is a true and accurate support, to the best of my recollection and knowledge, so help me God, and so I set to it my hand and seal.
